On October 3, King will deliver a speech titled “Opportunities and Challenges for Semiconductor Materials, the Key to a More Resilient, Sustainable Future.” Driven by the growth of megatrends such as artificial intelligence, connectivity/IoT/5G, high-performance computing and automotive electrification, the semiconductor industry is expected to reach a market worth more than $1 trillion. by 2030. To meet this demand, major investments are necessary. Growth in semiconductor capacity continues despite the current slowdown, and there is a growing need for more skilled workers. In his speech, King will address these topics and outline many of the complex innovation challenges for advancing the era of Angstrom-scale transistors and More Than Moore technologies.
