The Energy Investor Dialogue will host its fifth webinar on the theme of MFF and the Strategic Technology Platform for Europe (STEP) on Tuesday 24 October.
Since the adoption in 2020 of its Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2021-2027, the EU has faced unprecedented and unexpected challenges, from the consequences of Russia’s war against Ukraine to the accelerating inflation and interest rates, putting the EU budget under pressure. .
As part of the mid-term review of the MFF, the Commission presented three legislative proposals on 20 June 2023 aimed at strengthening the EU budget in a limited number of priority areas. The package includes, among other things, the creation of the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP) to make the EU more competitive in critical technologies (such as digital, cleantech and biotechnology) by strengthening, exploiting and piloting existing programs (such as InvestEU). , the Innovation Fund, Horizon Europe, etc.) towards the necessary investments.
The webinar will focus on the relevance of STEP to support the rapid development and deployment of local clean energy technologies, energy storage system innovations and decarbonization solutions in the EU.
Join us for a discussion with Gaetano D’adamo and Eduard Folch from the European Commission’s DG Budget, as they unveil the measures taken by the European Commission as part of the mid-term review, the impact and STEP opportunities for the energy sector, and what lies ahead for the next MFF (2029-2034).
