Disney has expanded its partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery to offer a streaming package this summer. Companies have announcement that they will soon give people the option to pay for Disney+, Hulu and Max subscriptions together in the United States. Hulu on Disney+ recently came out of beta, a few months after Disney took full ownership late last year. An ad-free plan with both services costs $20, while an ad-free Max subscription costs $16 per month. A bundle including all three will likely cost less than $36, and viewers will have the option to get their ad-supported versions if they want to pay even less.
Disney's ESPN also works with Warner Bros. Discovery, as well as with Fox Sports, to launch a streaming sports service, the companies announced in February. The joint service will broadcast sporting events from all networks owned by the companies, including NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA games.
“This new offering gives consumers the largest collection of best-value entertainment in streaming, and will help drive additional subscribers and much stronger loyalty,” said JB Perrette, CEO and Chairman of Warner Bros. . Discovery's Global Streaming and Games. Indeed, subscribers might be less inclined to give up a bundle of three if they decide to remove the services they pay for. As The New York Times note, Disney has seen good results from its Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ bundleso we can probably expect it to come up with more similar deals.
The companies have not yet revealed the price or exact release date of their new product, but they have stated that it will be available for purchase on one of the streaming platforms' websites. Subscribers can also receive notifications to get the bundle for an additional payment if they already have one of the services, similar to how Disney+ members are asked if they want to pay $2 more for Hulu content.
