Do you feel limited by the dim light of your smartphone? If so, you might want to check out the phone-mountable Wuben E1. It's currently on Kickstarter and puts out up to 300 lumens compared to the iPhone 15's measly 50.
Manufactured by Hong Kong company Wuben, the E1 consists of a ring of 28 LEDs attached via a hinge to a base plate containing a ring of neodymium magnets. The device is simply placed on the Magsafe area of any Apple or Android smartphone, where it stays securely in place until deliberately removed.
If its LED ring remains folded, the E1 can be used as a much brighter alternative to the phone's existing rear camera lighting. However, when taking selfies, the ring can be flipped to face the user, working alongside the front-facing camera.
The entire E1 can also be removed from the phone and used on its own. Its magnets allow it to stick to any ferromagnetic surface.

Using a button-style dial on the side of the device, users can turn the E1 on and off, continuously dim or brighten its LEDs, or set it to one of three color temperatures. These are hot (3000 to 3500K), neutral (3500 to 5000K) and cold (5000 to 6000K).
A USB-C charge of the built-in lithium battery is claimed to last 30 minutes of runtime at 300 lumens, going up to 50 hours at the lowest setting of 2 lumens. The entire rig is 6mm thick and reportedly weighs 36g (1.3oz).
An optional magnetic-topped aluminum stand can be inserted between the E1's base plate and the phone, then used either as a monopod for static shots or as a grip when switching to handheld. The stand can also be extended to use as a selfie stick.
Commitments range from US$39 – for a base version of the magnesium-bodied E1 – up to $169 for a titanium model with stand. The expected retail prices for these packages are $49 and $248, respectively. Assuming that Kickstarter works, shipments are expected to begin in July.
