U.S. business activity grew in April at the slowest pace this year, driven by a decline in demand that led to the first decline in employment since 2020.
The April S&P Global flash composite hint output of manufacturers and service providers fell 1.2 points, its highest level since August, to 50.9. Readings above 50 indicate expansion. The composite order measure showed the first contraction in six months.
